Grandparents/Kinship Care
Program Cordinator: Jeanette Perry
Our Grandparents/Kinship Caregiver’s support Group is for individuals, families, and friends of families who during these times find themselves as primary caregivers. They are faced with the challenges of raising their grandchildren.
Grandparents/Kinship Care Support Program is designed to support grandparents raising their grandchildren and their families ranging in age from 30 to 60 years. The program focuses heavily on increasing and improving literacy skills and education for the total family. The program covers the following areas:
- Tutoring and mentoring for grandparents and their grandchildren.
- Personal assistance via transportation to and from banks, grocery stores, doctor appointments and schools.
- Training and education includes parent nurturing workshops, empowerment workshops, computer skills training, life skills training and senior employment opportunities.
- P.A.C.T. (quality time) invoves trips to the library, special cultural programs, family night and book of the month club.
